About the show: In the hopes of starting the new year off on the right foot, the MCD Gallery put out a call for art that focused on the joy and creativity of PLAY looking for work that evoked the unburdened joy and fun that are the corner stones of children's play.
The young (or young art heart) have the ability to create and imagine without the burden of responsibility and the reality of life as we know it weighing them down or holding them back. This was a chance for artists to dive into that type of creativity, immerse themselves in color and spontaneity, the joy of creation and letting their imagination run wild.
In a world where so much of what we have to deal with every day is depressing, heavy, hurtful and just plain awful, we hoped that this show would bring light and happiness into the space and give viewers the chance to breath fresh, clean air and smile, if even for only a short while.
